Southgate School

Sue Norman

Type of Governor: Staff Governor

Date started as Governor: 25 January 2023

Role: Staff Governor

Why did you become a school Governor?

I have worked at Southgate/Lydgate School for over 20 years. The school, pupils and ethos of Southgate is something that I believe in and value.

I feel that I can contribute my knowledge and experience to ensure that the school keeps thriving and evolving as we all want it to. I became a Governor to help keep the school continuing to move forward, with the main criteria always being the wellbeing of our pupils.

What are you involved in as a Governor?

My role in school keeps me extremely busy, but I have got involved in recruitment which is obviously key to making sure that we are recruiting the right personnel for the school, who will also share our values.

What do you get out of the role?

I get a lot from the role. I feel that I can contribute as a current and experienced member of staff, and take a fair view. I also feel that as well as working with the children in my role as Forest School Lead across school, I can also contribute in decision making with Governors.

This is a role I take seriously and value.
