At Southgate School we take Safeguarding seriously and follow safeguarding procedures throughout the recruitment process

Kirklees Safeguarding Board

  • Each candidate is required to provide 2 references who can comment on their employment including safeguarding, behaviour, performance, disciplinary issues etc.
    • One reference should be from your current workplace
    • If you work in a school than one of these references should be from either the Headteacher, Deptuty Headteacher or Business Manager
  • Please explain reasons for any gaps in employment or education
  • Each recruitment panel will have at least one panel member who is trained in Safer Recruitment Procedures
  • No appointments will be confirmed until a satisfactory DBS check has been completed and references have received and checked
  • You will be asked to complete a self declaration form in accordance with the Childcare (Disqualification Act)
  • We will check Teachers Prohibition information to ensure candidates have not been prohbitied from teaching
  • We will also ask for information relation to previous absences from your current workplace
